About the Artist
Christine Severson
My life altered in an instant 48 years ago while working as an RN in a spinal cord injury unit while transferring a quadriplegic patient. He was fine, but I was left with spinal nerve damage. After numerous surgeries and treatments, I live with chronic pain and limited mobility. After my nursing career ended, I discovered the joy of working with my hands. The mediums in which I work must be lightweight, and I work from a semi-reclining position. Creating has become my passion. It has saved my life by helping me cope with my pain and my limitations. Creating gives me positive mental energy and self-pride. It is important for my family to witness these positives. Creating is the gift of my pain. Each piece is unique and reflects positive energy.
