"As an artist focused on making the internal external, my work explores the deeply personal journey of being diagnosed with Autism at age 45. My art reflects a deep desire to communicate how my experience of the world has always been fundamentally different from “normal” people, and how the validation of that fact has led to an unravelling of my sense of self.
I’ve been inspired to express what I cannot express verbally through my art. For 20 years, I worked as a photographer, videographer, and documentarian. But five years ago, a debilitating neck injury forced me to retire. Without the structure of work and social interaction, my world and identity collapsed inward. I had no outlet for my creativity—until I picked up drawing again two years ago after a 20-year hiatus."
