About the Artist
Sal Panasci
As an artist, my goal in every painting, is to create an environment which the viewer can become comfortable with. I use color and texture to create these individual environments, whether the painting is executed on a large scale, or smaller scale. Color is my primary concern. What mood does the color convey, how is the color applied, what relationships are displayed between assorted colors within a painting? Texture of the paint and the surface of the painting are of great importance, as well. On occasion I will apply paint very heavily, while at other times, the paint will be very fluid and smooth.The tools I employ help to create the diversity of surface textures. Sometimes I will paint with a brush, while at other times I will apply paint with knives, trowels and scrapers in order to achieve a mood. It is my purpose to have the viewer become one with the painting, to interact with the painting and to establish a dialog with the painting.
