About the Artist
Emily Tironi is a mixed media collage artist. Born with congenital myopathy, she loved art class throughout her childhood and used it as an outlet to express herself and her struggles. Emily uses both and her experience as a person with a disability to create mixed media collages. Her work focuses on disability and advocacy. She had her first solo show in 2020 at Southern Vermont Arts Center and works on her collages daily. Emily says, "My works are a celebration of the disabled experience. I often use surrealism, bright colors, and humor in my work to challenge societal norms and stereotypes. I believe bringing this perspective to the general public is important and use my personal experience to inform the work. The process of using different mediums and putting separate parts together to create a new whole strengthens the messages of the work."
Art on display at Courage Kenny and online gallery.
