About the Artist
Paula Davidovich
In 2016, I was diagnosed with acute flaccid myelitis, a condition similar to polio, which led to paralysis and confined me to a wheelchair, leaving me without the use of my legs and with limited upper body strength. Previously right-handed, my right hand is now too weak to grip a pen or paintbrush, prompting me to relearn how to write, draw, and paint with my left hand. This adaptation has not only been a significant part of my recovery but also serves as a therapeutic outlet. Painting has become a shared activity with my young son and a way to express both the challenges and joys of living life to its fullest despite my paralysis.
