Terry Sharp
I am Terry Sharp and I am a stroke survivor. When I suffered my strokes, the right side of my body was paralyzed. I was unable to walk or use my arm, hand, or fingers. Through intensive physical and occupational therapy, I regained the use of my right side and today am able to do most things, simply at a slower pace. The year I had my strokes, my wife and I were seven days shy of celebrating our 35th wedding anniversary. We were planning a trip to Italy. Needless to say, that trip was delayed. This year, we celebrated our 40th anniversary and this picture was taken on our recent travels to Rome. Its significance and inspiration are evident. Christ on the cross symbolizes the sacrifice that was made for me and others. My recovery was guided by the encouragement of others and bolstered by my faith. My hope is that other who face challenging circumstances will know that turning our face to God rather than focusing on our limitations frees us and gives us hope.
