Jay Petersen
Jay Petersen has been painting since 1977, beginning a committed artistic journey after becoming free from drugs and alcohol. Raised on a Minnesota farm surrounded by vivid color and guided by the encouragement of a beloved grandmother, an “angel” who worked as a nurse’s aide and teacher, Jay found art to be both grounding and generous. Painting became a gift to the wider community, shaped by perseverance and lived experience. Living with PTSD, an anxiety disorder, and epilepsy managed through medication, Jay brings honesty and openness into the creative process. Being part of Art of Possibilities holds profound meaning for Jay. It offers the chance to feel respected and genuinely valued, through a show curated by people who care deeply and attended by a community that shows the same care, making all the hard work behind an event of this scale truly meaningful.
