The full impact of a tower moment comes later, when we allow ourselves to clearly see previously unimagined possibilities. Relief image is artists original hand cut mold. Framed by artist.
About the Artist
I create sculptural objects and relief images using handmade paper pulp as my primary medium. I also incorporate things found in nature. Images in my art reflect my response to seasonal changes and personal experiences. My art explores the dialogue that can emerge between the container, a bowl for example, and what it contains, an image, a memory, or an emotion. My objects of handmade paper are the containers and the images they contain begin the dialog. An important part of art making for me means acting in a responsible way toward the earth’s resources. The process I use to make handmade paper has low impact on the environment. I make paper pulp from renewable plant fibers such as Cattail and Iris leaves, and by recycling post-consumer paper. I incorporate found or repurposed items in my art to add detail to my images.
