About the Artist
Mary Vorhes
I started taking photographs in grade school and and learned how to compose photos and what is a good photo. I take photos in nature. Now I use my photos as inspiration for my painting and collages. I enjoy creating art and if I am down or anxious creating art gives me life and changes my mood to a more hopeful and calm mood. I have bipolar disorder and PTSD and I am unable to work for a living. I find creating art gives me something to do and helps me feel good about my life. Sometimes my hand shakes when I am painting so I use a sponge to help steady my hand so I can create art. I enjoy trying new techniques such as scrape painting where I scrape away the top layer of paint to reveal what is beneath it.
