Gene Smith
Gene Smith is a multidisciplinary artist whose creative life has been shaped by curiosity, travel, and lifelong engagement with art. Born with cerebral palsy, Gene remained active and creatively curious from an early age, exploring painting, printmaking, drawing, and collage. Travel played an important role, offering inspiration through observation and documentation of place. Working across mediums allows ideas to move freely, responding to color, texture, and memory. Art remains a steady companion, offering challenge, enjoyment, and expression. Gene’s work reflects persistence and enthusiasm, shaped by belief that disability is one aspect of experience rather than a definition. Creativity continues as a way to explore the world with openness and determination.
