Joah Bingert
Joah Bingert is a mixed media and fiber artist whose work explores identity, texture, and belonging. Drawing from their upbringing in East Tennessee and lived experience as a disabled, trans, and queer individual, Joah creates tactile, layered works that invite both looking and feeling. Living with a neurodevelopement disorder, Joah approaches art through sensory engagement, combining traditional fiber techniques with unconventional materials. Joah's work navigates themes of nature, mental health, community, and the body, reflecting both struggle and connection. Creating dense textile collages allows Joah to process experience through touch and repetition, offering grounding and expression. Through art, Joah shares a deeply personal perspective while opening space for others to reflect on resilience, identity, and the search for belonging.
