Kathy Wilson
Kathy Wilson, who works under the art name Kassius Willson, creates abstract paintings through an intuitive process of layered color, gesture, and movement. Each piece is allowed to evolve organically, balancing areas of energetic motion with quieter spaces where the eye can pause and rest. While the forms remain abstract, they are deeply rooted in memory, emotion, and rhythm, a combination Kathy describes as “controlled chaos.” Music is integral to the creative process, as every painting is created while listening to classic rock. Songs, bands, or lyrics that linger during the act of painting often become the titles of the work, serving as an invitation rather than an explanation. Kathy hopes viewers will listen to the referenced music while experiencing the artwork, allowing sound and image to interact and deepen the experience. In this way, each painting becomes a shared moment that keeps both the visual story and the music alive.
