Bella Tabor
Bella Tabor is a visual artist whose work emerges from a lifelong relationship with disability and a commitment to reimagining how the body and mind communicate. Living with a full‑body connective tissue disorder, Bella found art as a vital bridge when words were no longer sufficient, offering a way to translate sensation, memory, and emotion into form. A Courage Kenny alum, Bella participated in the Chronic Pain Rehabilitation Program in 2024, an experience that further shaped artistic direction. Pain in the hands has made handwriting difficult, but using scissors as an extension of the body opened new freedom through cut‑and‑paste collage. Bella works with images, text, and visual material drawn from the recent and distant past, sourcing widely circulated publications to dismantle and reassemble familiar narratives. Through recontextualizing imagery and language, the work challenges inherited ideas and biases, transforming media once meant for consumption into layered compositions defined instead by agency, care, and self‑expression.
